Sainsbury’s vegan Christmas mains
This year, Sainsbury’s has a variety of vegan mains on offer, available either in stores or via Sainsbury’s Food to Order service, which offers convenient collection of its Christmas foods on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th December.
First up is its Taste the Difference No Turkey Crown, which is available in store (£7.00) from 3rd December and to order (£6.50).
Serving up to 4 people, this vegan Christmas roast is made from mushroom and soya protein that is said to be “expertly infused with natural vegan flavours for a rich, meaty succulence”.
It captures all the flavour of a traditional roast and is stuffed with luscious sage and onion, and hand-finished with smoky vegan bacon rashers. To ensure its succulent texture, it comes with a star-shaped herb melt that bastes and seasons the joint as it cooks.
Also available to order is the Taste the Difference Festive Nut Roast (£6.50), a fruity twist on the beloved classic nut roast.
This savoury and aromatically spiced nut roast is made with vegetables, nuts, butter beans, cannellini beans and buckwheat, and topped with whole nuts for a crunchy texture. It hides a surprise fruity centre in the middle that adds the perfect balance of sweetness.
A new addition to the Food to Order line-up for this year is the Taste the Difference Maple Chilli Butternut Squash Galette (£7.00). This impressive pastry centrepiece serves four and is filled with maple and chilli-glazed butternut squash and coconut-based cream, wrapped in puff pastry and topped with sage and onion breadcrumbs.
Also new for 2025, Taste the Difference Leek & Walnut Tarts (£6.00) feature shortcrust pastry cases filled with a coconut-based cheddar cheese-style creamy leek and potato filling, all topped with a crisp walnut and chive crumble.
The pack of two single-serving pies is available through Sainsbury’s Food to Order service.
Available in stores is the Taste the Difference Mushroom Wellington (£8.00), which features a filling of portobello and chestnut mushrooms, sauteed with pearl onions and encased in golden puff pastry with holly leaf decorations.
Shoppers can also expect to see some old favourites return to stores. Look out for the Plant Pioneers Bubble and Squeak Cheddar Melt, Plant Pioneers Festive Roast, and Plant Pioneers Meat Free Wellington in the freezer aisle.
Vegan starters and sides
No Christmas meal is complete without festive trimmings. Thankfully, Sainsbury’s has restocked its Plant Pioneers Vegan Trimmings Selection (£6.50) ahead of the big day.
Enough to feed 10 people, the vegan selection includes 10 peppery vegan mushroom sausages wrapped in vegan bacon and 12 stuffing balls lightly seasoned with sage and cracked black pepper.
If you fancy one but not the other, you can also pick up the Plant Pioneers Shroompups in Blankets and Plant Pioneers Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls separately in stores.
Serve as part of your Christmas dinner or as canapés at a festive party.
And if you’re looking for a festive starter or party nibble, why not try the by Sainsbury’s Vegetable Fritters with Sweet Chilli Dip? These tasty vegan fritters will be available in store from 19th November, perfect for an easy plant-based appetiser.
Vegan desserts and sweet treats
Sainsbury’s has only announced one festive vegan dessert for 2025, but there are plenty of sweet treats and accidentally vegan puddings available in store to keep dessert fans happy after their Christmas meal.
Sainsbury’s vegan-friendly dessert for 2025 is only available through its click-and-collect service, and it’s a chocoholic’s dream. The Taste the Difference Dark Chocolate Torte (£13.00) serves eight and is ready to eat, taking the time and effort out of Christmas dessert.
It features a thick chocolate biscuit base, topped with a decadent dark chocolate ganache adorned with chocolate shards and a dusting of cocoa powder.
For shoppers in store, the Taste the Difference Free From range offers Cranberry & Orange Chocolate Tiffin slices (£3.75), Salted Caramel Choc Truffles (£4.75), Choc Orange Mini Segments (£4.75), and a Salted Caramel Chocolate Bauble Tiffin (£10.00), all vegan-friendly and suitable as a light after-dinner sweet treat or festive gift.
The Salted Caramel Chocolate Bauble Tiffin could also serve as a gluten-free and vegan dessert, with its shortbread pieces and salted caramel nestled in a dark chocolate slab, finished with a bronze lustre.
