Yama has a couple of locations, this being the one in South Charlotte (Yama Waverly), and I believe it is part of the same ownership as Baku.
I’m glad I swung back around here and asked about any specials, at which point the hand-written and laminated sheet came out with the good stuff. I went with chuu-toro, kinmedai, kurodai, shima aji, and zuke salmon, and then uni at the very end. All nicely done, the marinated salmon stood out as particularly good, likewise really good looking uni.
Definitely recommend sitting at the sushi bar as your order is handed to you immediately after it’s put together. Makes a difference especially with the uni and the nori staying crisp.
