Made some smash burgers at our tailgate

    The correct way is to smash the onions into the top of the patty and caramelize on the flip but tbh probably is great either way.

    Edit: if you do it the other way the onion flavor steams through the patty.

    Edit 2: probably works out either way for real though

    Meat on top of onions? Interesting. I usually smash the onions on top of the meat.

    putting those onions down first kinda defeats the purpose of the smash , but I am confident it still tasted amaze balls. You do you , and enjoy!

    I’ve tried it a few times and I think I prefer making the onions separately then topping the patty with them. Not a fan of how they steam the meat on the flip.

    Onion sliced too thick. They should start on top of the meat. Use American cheese.
