It’s a cracker, it taste like nothing, and it can get everywhere, it’s a heavily tourist trap snack.

  2. Cultural_Mission3139

that looks interesting. I bet with the pressure and the high heat the shell gets crushed. Might be able to eat it like fried shrimp tails. Especially if that’s soft shell crab. I’d try it.

  3. Waiting for redditors to get defensive about this, since it’s ✨ Japanese ✨ street food.

I’ve had this before (prawn and squid are the ones I’ve had), it ain’t stupid, this shit slaps

    # I’ve seen this a lot of times already it’s not a r/StupidFood more like r/StupidRedditor.

  6. asclepiannoble

    Isn’t it a soft-shelled crab? That’s fine.

Yeeeeep that’s me! You might be wondering how I got here in the first place

  8. OnlyCelebration7443

I’m not sure about the taste but it would look nice on my wall

OP seems the type to order chicken strips no matter what restaurant he goes to

Isn’t this just regular rice crackers/senbei? I’ve had one with octopus and they’re fantastic lol

Doesn’t seem like stupid food. Just some thin crunchy dough with a soft-shell crab, whose crunch matches the cracker-like consistency of the dough. No weird ingredients and done cleanly.

Of course it’s not stupid food because it’s not indian street food folks posted here in a daily basis.

Definitely a tourist trap, but the end result looks like a painting which I’m honestly impressed by

    Their flesh is really soft

I bet the comments here would have been very different if this was Chinese food instead of Japanese.

Japan resident here. These are pretty meh. visually cool an they do get a little bit of extra flavour from the prawn/crab but it mostly just taste like average rice cracker with a hard clump in the middle.
