The plastic thread inside snapped, meaning the bottom piece falls off 🙁
This was after/during a 4hr cook at 180. Had a lid on the container and container in a cooler to keep heat in.

**This is a generic reminder message under every image post**

Thank you for your picture post to r/souvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.

If you’ve posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn’t really fostering any discussion which is what we’re all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

    Thank you!!

I’m beginning to suspect a lot of these units are not designed for high temps. My inkbird only started acting up after I made carrots a couple times.

That said, I definitely expected more from joule.

  3. Weird.

My near-original joule is like 5 years old and I’ve done a ton of 160-180 degree cooks inside my cooler, no issues.

  4. This same thing just happened to me a few days ago with a 2021 unit – except I went to pull it out to do a long ribs cook and it fell off.

I went to Anova. My Joule crapped out in the second year.

My Anova is about 12 years old. Still going strong.

  7. I had the same thing happened to me after maybe 8 years of cooking with it.

I emailed asking for the part and chefsteps mail it free of charge, so I would check with their support.
