It's the all-time ribs debate – do you like them with a little tug or falling off the bone?

My guests are always looking for fall off the bone but I honestly don’t have a preference so ribs are probably the most forgiving thing that goes on the smoker for me.

  2. I’ve ended up liking them no wrap, no mush, maybe slightly dry even. I dont think many would agree, id probably go under if I opened a barbecue stand.

  3. I always say.. cook YOUR ribs they way YOU like them!!!!
There is no general right or wrong way.. as long as they are cooked to your liking, they are perfect!!!!
I personally like a good bite off.. but I know lots of people that prefer to just pull the bone out and eat ’em.
    They look great!!!! 👊🏻💨💨💨

Best guess is no, bones aren’t protruding far enough

I’m fine with either, but I do find myself enjoying the experience and flavor of pulling it off the bone like a gluttonous carnivore.

  6. gnesensteve

Nah. When they shrink back about 3/4 inch I pull them

the right way to make ribs is the way you like them, end of story.

Unless you are making competition ribs. but the only place you should be making competition ribs is at a competition.

We can argue about this all we want, but I think it’s pretty plain that there are orders of magnitude between the people who prefer fall off the bone and people who prefer there to be some tug to the ribs. And here’s the thing, everyone hates ribs that don’t bite easily, so you’re probably better off just making them fall off the bone in whatever manner you prefer to do that. I like a barky rib, lots of people like them saucy, my compromise? Serve them with sauce on the side, and if someone wants it cooked on, I’ll happily accommodate that but they need to tell me well ahead of time, easy peasy

  9. Falling off the bone?

    GOOD!

    A little bit of chew?

    GOOD!

I like a little tug. I throw my dry rub and let them go without wrapping. As always cook it how you like them.

I appreciate both. Dry rub I want a little bite. But a big messy plate of sweet red sauce ribs is great too.

Do you undercook your pork butt?
    No, you don’t.

As long as I can still pick it up by the bone, they’re good for me.

  14. I cook my ribs so they are tender with a bite. However I’ll graciously eat fall off the bone ribs till I’m sick.

    I Love pork ribs.

They look awesome to me… and I’ll eat them either way

    Mother flipper!!!!!
    Absolutely perfect!

I do both depending on how I’m feeling. I found a good Johnny Trigg video that comes out great for me

I’d just get (or smoke) pulled pork if I wanted “fall off the bone”. That’s what anybody eating my ribs would get too lol.

  19. countryguy0003

I don’t eat ribs often, but I think falling of the bone would be best. I wanna eat the meat, I don’t want to bite into bone so I’d prefer them to slide off

  20. Potential-Ad-6787

Make them how you would want them. Not really a debate unless you’re entering a contest, judges like chew.

  21. Additional-Local8721

It’s your food. Personally, I dont like fall of the bone. That makes it harder to cut when I’m slicing them.

  22. HowToBeBanned

Comes off the bone easily with a bite, but doesnt take the rest of the meat with it.

  23. Eat it how you like. Fall off the bone is mushy and overcooked for me.

  24. nosrepmodnara

Meh. I would make pulled pork if I just wanted a pile of pork.
