M&S is famed for its decadent Christmas food. From party favourites to festive snacks, the retailer’s range never seems to disappoint.

However, shoppers heading to stores this year might be a little disheartened to find that one treat that was described as “moreish” will not be making a return to shelves during the holidays.

The high street staple has confirmed on social media that its Dark Chocolate Chilli Tortillas, a popular staple in previous years, have officially been axed and won’t be available this winter.

News of the snack’s discontinuation was revealed after one shopper said he’d been pining for the sweet and spicy snack, reports the Sun.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the shopper tagged M&S and wrote: “@marksandspencer Please bring these back, I beg you. The cinnamon tortilla rolls aren’t the same!”

Responding, an M&S spokesperson confirmed the sad news by writing: “We don’t have plans to bring back the Dark Chocolate Chili Tortillas, but can confirm our Cinnamon Tortilla rolls are now available in store for grabs.”

The unusual snack was made up of spicy crunchy tortilla chips that had been coated in a rich dark chocolate layer, combining both sweet and savoury flavours.

Nevertheless, the chocolate and chilli tortillas seemed to be a hit with many shoppers, with some raving over the flavours online, as one praised: “I loved these but loved them too much and they were very unhealthy for me.”

Another wrote: “These were delish, very moreish!”

A third added: “These are absolutely delicious. They had them years ago but stopped for the last two Christmases… but they’re back! Amazing.”

Of course, not everyone was a fan of the unusual combo, with one less keen shopper saying: “They could be good, but too much chocolate, overpowers the nacho. Needs a better balance of savoury and sweet.”

Someone else not overly fond of the taste wrote: “I just tried these. They’re a bit weird, they mainly taste chocolatey, you can’t really taste the chilli, but you still get the chilli sensation on your tongue.”

Shoppers who are still craving that unusual taste can still purchase M&S’ Cinnamon Tortilla Rolls as a potential alternative.

Costing around £2.50 for a 175g bag, these boast crunchy cinnamon-spiced tortilla rolls have been dipped in smooth, responsibly sourced Belgian milk chocolate.

It comes just after M&S officially opened its Christmas Food to Order delivery slots last week, helping eager shoppers to get their food order sorted well ahead of the busy December period.

This year, the high street retailer is offering 90 “magical” dishes, festive exclusives and on-trend items that are unavailable to buy at any other retailer.
