Chef Karen Akunowicz is a celebrity chef, restaurateur, bestselling author and James Beard Award winner (Best Chef: Northeast) of Top Chef Season 13 fame. As the chef-owner of Fox & the Knife Enoteca in South Boston, Bar Volpe Ristorante and Fox Pasta Company, she has been touted as “Boston’s Queen of Pasta.” With a culinary background that includes training in Italy and leadership at Boston’s Myers & Chang, Karen’s acclaimed restaurants, Fox & the Knife (James Beard nominated) and Bar Volpe, both celebrate her mastery of Italian cuisine. Previously, she cut her teeth as a pasta-maker at L’Avian Blu in Modena, Italy, and she returns every year to hone her craft and oversee the creation of her Bona Futura Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Karen founded Fox Pasta Company to make fresh, handmade pasta more accessible, and she authored Crave, a cookbook featuring 100 crave-worthy recipes. Frequently appearing as a celebrity chef and judge on the likes of America’s Test Kitchen, Guy’s Grocery Games, Top Chef and Tournament of Champions, Karen has become a fan favorite across multiple channels and continues to inspire budding chefs to think outside the box.
