Sep. 30—MITCHELL — It’s Italian food, brought from California in Mitchell.

Adamo’s, on the corner of Third Avenue and Main Street, has been open for about three weeks. The first Adamo’s restaurant was opened in Sacramento, California, but has now made a second home in Mitchell thanks to John Adamo and his daughter, Chiara.

Aside from the menu of authentic Italian eats, the restaurant will be incorporating walleye and pheasant in some upcoming dishes.

“We’re just trying to take what we kind of do in California but make it much more unique and local to South Dakota,” Chiara said.

Chiara has been flying back and forth from South Dakota to California, but says Mitchell has felt more like home now.

“I definitely enjoy being here much more than in California,” she said. “The people are much more welcoming. I enjoy the small town feel of Main Street.”

Adamo’s is open 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturdays. The restaurant eventually plans to expand its hours.
