Two makes of Neapolitan fried
broccoli friarielli snacks were withdrawn from the market Monday
due to a suspected risk of contamination with botulism.
Two lots of Bel Sapore and two lots of Vittoria, each weighing a
kilo, were pulled after being produced by a plant at Scafati
near Salerno.
The producers warned outlets to also pull any friarielli they
have already stocked.
“Friarielli” refers to broccoli rabe, also known as rapini or
turnip tops. It is a leafy green vegetable, popular in Italian
cuisine, particularly in Naples.
The product, according to the recall data sheet dated August 9,
is marketed by Ciro Velleca, the name of the manufacturer
Stefano Amura, with a plant in Scafati, Salerno.
The two Bel Sapore-branded batches are no. 060325, expiring
March 6, 2028, and no. 280325, expiring March 28, 2028; the two
Vittoria-branded batches are no. 280325, expiring March 28,
2028, and no. 290425, expiring April 28, 2028.
