Since Emilia opened in the Waterworks a month ago it’s quickly become my favourite place at the food hall. Emilia is a chain from Montreal specializing in Portuguese churrasqueira chicken that is rotisserie cooked and then finished on a grill. They also have bifana and chorizo.

Today I was quite hungry so got their “Victor” mixed grill plate which comes with all three delicious meats. All nicely pick up a smoky aroma from the grill. In particular I’m pleasantly surprised with the bifana. Elsewhere the pork is often too lean and dry. Here there’s enough fat so it stays juicy and tender. For $23 this comes with a choice of two sides. The fries are fresh cut and well seasoned. And the kale salad is a step above the usual mixed greens. Altogether this is a very hearty and satisfying meal.

The same grilled meats are offered as bowls, sandwiches, salads and poutines. Not shown, but should be noted, I really like their “Tia Tina” sandwich which combines chicken, chorizo and cheese curds!
