There is a huge variety of cuisines in Cardiff, from Thai to Greek, to Indian, to Mexican, and many more. However, one cuisine seems to pop up time and time again. Italian.

Now, Bosco, a new Italian restaurant, will be opening on High Street. With restaurants already in Bath, Bristol, and Cheltenham, they are now opening their first Welsh branch in Cardiff city centre. Offering all-day Italian dining, they will join the likes of Casanova, Cafe Citta, Real Italian Pizza Co, Franca Manca, Pizza Express, and Pizza Pilgrims in the area.

Bosco is a neighbourhood Italian restaurant and pizzeria serving wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizza and classic Italian dishes, inspired by the pizzerias of Naples and New York City.

They say theysource the best Italian produce from Italy, and everything is made in-house.

Joe Cook, managing director, said Bosco had been looking at opening in Cardiff since 2021.

He said: “It’s a city that we love, it is super vibrant, the more time we’ve spent up there, the more fun it seems.

“It’s definitely a great growing food scene, particularly where we are on High Street.”

Bosco is aiming to open in early December 2025 and will be open seven days a week from 11.30am with last bookings at 10pm.

Joe also added that Bosco is “so much more than just pizza” and the idea of Bosco was born out of family holidays to Italy and the wonderfully fresh produce of the local markets and the ingredient-led simplicity of Italian cooking.

Bosco is not the only new opening in Cardiff this autumn.

It has been a busy time in the Welsh capital with huge sports bar Ludo, well-loved pancakes spot Haystack Cafe, and new BBQ restaurant Spitfire BBQ all opening.

There are also more openings still to come, including Hickory’s Smokehouse and CinnAmore.

The cinammon bun cafe is set to open in Cardiff Bay by a woman who fled her home in Ukraine and found sanctuary in Wales.
