The steadily increasing tourist flow from Belgium, combined with the existence of a significant Greek diaspora element and the presence of a large number of Greek restaurants throughout Belgium, assist and can further provide particular dynamics and prospects for Greek gastronomy products in the Belgian market.

It should be noted that the Belgian public is quite familiar with the taste and quality of Greek gastronomy products. It is also estimated that there are approximately 40 thousand diaspora in Belgium. Tourist agencies, either in stores or online, recommend destinations and offers mainly to the Greek islands. In 2024, 920.1 million arrivals from Belgium were recorded, while Belgians spent 584.3 million euros on their holidays in our country.

Greek wines also have relatively good prospects. Belgium imports wine worth approximately 1 billion euros annually, with Greece exporting quantities worth 2.5 million euros in 2024 and 2.9 million in 2023. Also, although a beer producing country, Belgium imports quantities worth 103 million euros (from Greece only 354,000 euros). Interestingly, Belgium imports bottled water worth 1.7 billion euros, with Greece exporting only 0.3 million euros. Also, Greek catches, especially sea bream and sea bass, have particularly good prospects in the Belgian market.

Greece could also be a destination for buying a second – holiday home, due to the increasing tourist flow combined with the competitive prices of Greek holiday homes, compared to neighboring countries in Belgium, such as France. There has already been interest in buying a home or in facilitating and providing information to Belgians who are in the process of buying a holiday home in Greece.
