Tonight after 14 hours at the restaurant and going back and forth from the restaurant to my house to check in on my little man post eye surgery and I decided a make shift cacio with steak and mushrooms and onions sounded alright, paired with a lovely game of PUBG

Anything that requires very little effort. Today was two street tacos from my local truck that stays open till midnight.

Whatever quart of slop I brought home otherwise like Taco Bell ? If I have the energy? Jesus Christ I’m really looking at myself in the mirror right now

Shit, I made popcorn man. Intentions of stopping by the little industry place for Mac and Cheese, but came home instead. Smarter and safer that way I suppose.

This looks like a brisket stroganoff. Which looks and sounds delicious

Whatever was popular that night. I’d usually make enough sauce & pasta well beyond what we’d need, so often enough, my post shift meal was a linguine, tomato sauce, & (insert excess protein). I’m not picky, because I’m usually so tired at that point that it’s just fuel. I still took time to savor it, because life is about the little moments.

Everyone knows pasta and steak don’t go together in the same dish 😂

Basmati rice with an egg. I eyeballed it wrong, little bit over/wet. Whatever

I made a turkey sandwich on nine grain with pickles and I crushed up garden salsa sun chips on it. Truly one of my greatest creations.

Lately I’ve been force feeding myself Democracy and rinsing it down with a nice cold one. o7

Leftover flanksteak from the special on a hard roll with melted shredded pepper Jack all over

Leftover banquet salmon plate complete with hotbox overcooked broccolini and buttnut puree. Grabbed some black garlic beurre blanc from the line as well.

Real Beef? Nah I can’t afford that. How about a pack of instant noodles fancified by putting in a splash of soy sauce and 1 green onion?

I can only offer past stories, but I’ll give one:

My first job was at a diner. We had 1/3lb patties and it was a pretty decent burger in all respect. Nothing fancy, but real hand-weighed patties and respect to the process. Anyways, we had a thing where we’d have 15-minute breaks and also get free food to eat on it. No real limits back then, just get back to work in fifteen.

So it turned into a thing where we’d compete to eat as big a burger as we could in that time. I’ll admit, even 16-year-old me only got to four patties. But our grill guy once did seven. That’s 2+1/3rd lbs of burger + fixins in a fifteen minute break – and he finished his shift afterwards. Real good shit.

Today’s post shift meal was a pizza and a 5 hour nap

After shift means after service and cleanup. Usually it’s at least 0:30 to 2 so anything that’s open. Usually some junkfood like McDonalds or Pizza.

After I got my 4yo to go to sleep, I miked his leftover chicken fries and ate them with leftover Popeye’s Last Dab ranch. Then I finished an open bag of spicy chicken ramen Funyuns. And the last 3rd of a 40oz of Bud Ice🤷‍♂️

currently chowing down on a bowl of breakfast potatoes

  22. I airfry tomatoes with dashi soy and garlic, and eat it with scrambled eggs. Other is a thick piece of tofu pan fried and eaten with light soy. Dress with grated ginger, scallion, shiso, whatever asian herby vegetable/herb does fine. I hate sleeping with an empty stomach so have been switching to what feels like a hearty meal but is easily digestible.

  23. PremeTeamTX

Usually fast food or maybe a frozen pizza

That looks like a righteous quick meal.

    Hope kiddo’s surgery went well.

I mean a lot of things can hit the mark with a post shift meal. I just take my time doing it. At least I try to. I always wind up zipping through and making a meal very quickly even though I try to shut it off. That’s the hardest part sometimes. I am perfectly content with a microwavable burrito or some Hot Pockets.

A meal made by someone else….the best meal of all
