The line for the production, packaging and storage of olive oil, using a mechanical cold centrifugation system, in the production facility of the House of Olives in Stari Bar has started operating.
The House of Olives announced that it was purchased with the financial support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the Municipality of Bar.
The Board of Directors of the House of Olives has made a stimulating decision on the processing of olives for all registered olive growers in the territory of Montenegro, enabling them to process their olives free of charge.
“The price of processing olive fruit, which meets the prescribed quality standards, of indigenous and introduced varieties, is ten cents per kilogram of olive fruit, excluding value added tax (VAT), for all unregistered olive growers, as well as for olive growers who own olive groves outside the territory of Montenegro,” the statement said.
Also, at the House of Olives, all olive growers will have the opportunity to adequately package their olive oil. The price of packaging extra-virgin and virgin olive oil, which meets the prescribed quality standards, is 50 cents excluding VAT per unit of adequate packaging owned by the customer (100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 750 ml, 1000 ml), for all registered olive growers on the territory of Montenegro.
The olive oil packaging service includes bottling and sealing the packaging under inert gas, i.e. nitrogen, as well as labeling the product.

Upon first arrival at the production facility of the House of Olives, the olive grower is required to bring proof of registration, i.e. the Decision on the registration of the agricultural holding and the Decision on entry into the olive grower’s registry, i.e. the Register of Olive Oil Producers, which is maintained by the Advisory Service in Plant Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, thereby gaining the right to free processing of the olive fruit, i.e. to preferential conditions for packaging extra-virgin and virgin olive oil.
“The olive oil producer is obliged to provide its own raw materials for packaging purposes, while olive growers who process olives in the production facility of the House of Olives will be offered transport packaging with a closure (from one liter at a price of 25 cents including VAT, or from five liters at a price of 50 cents including VAT, per packaging unit),” the statement states.
The production facility of the House of Olives will also purchase olives and olive oil from indigenous Montenegrin varieties (Žutica and accompanying indigenous varieties: Sitnica, Šarulja, Zinzulača, Fran, Drobnica, Gloginja, Lumbadreška, Dužica, Crnica – Crnjaka, Barkinja, Lumbardina). Also, this production facility will purchase extra-virgin olive oil from indigenous varieties, which meets the prescribed quality standards in the category of extra-virgin olive oil.
“All olive growers are asked to, due to limited olive processing capacities and great interest, reserve their processing appointment by calling 067 137 938 from Monday to Saturday, where they can obtain all the necessary information,” the statement concludes.
