[Music] [Music] Hi everyone, I’m Priya. Welcome to my channel, Taste the World with Priya. This is my first video after rebranding and I’m so excited to be here finally on camera with you all today. Let’s start with a classic and authentic Greek salad also called as huriatiki. Simple, fresh and delicious. So let’s get started. For this salad, you will need tomatoes, cucumber, onion, green capsicum, calamata olives, a block of feta cheese, extra virgin olive oil, dried oregano, and just a little pinch of salt. First, let’s slice the capsicum into rings. [Music] Let’s remove the seeds from the center. [Music] Capsicum gives a subtle sweetness and the extra crunch to the Greek salad. [Music] Place the capsicum rings in a large bowl. [Music] Cut the tomatoes into wedges. [Music] In Greek salads, always use ripe juicy tomatoes. They bring that sweet freshness and vibrant color. The secret to an authentic Greek salad is to keep the ingredients chunky and rustic. So, no fine dicing here. Add tomatoes to the bowl. Trim off the ends of the cucumber. Then slice it in half lengthwise. Now cut each half into thick half moon slices. Cucumbers add a refreshing crunch. I like to cut them into chunky half moons so that they stay crisp in every bite. Add them to the bowl. Now slice the red onion. [Music] Red onion adds sharpness to the Greek salad. Slice it thin so the flavor isn’t overpowering. [Music] Add in the red onion slices. [Music] Now just a light toss. We are blending the colors and flavors the Greek village style way. Now add a handful of calamata olives. No Greek salad is complete without them. And a slight sprinkle of salt to balance everything. And of course, feta cheese. Always served as a block in grease. Creamy, salty, and the real hero of this dish. [Music] Finally, a sprinkle of dried oregano. This herb is what gives Greek salad its unmistakable Meditaran aroma. Simple, rustic, and so authentic. Now, drizzle generously with extra virgin olive oil. In Greece, olive oil isn’t just a dressing. It’s liquid gold that ties everything together. Simple, fresh, and delicious. That’s the magic of an authentic Greek salad. Greek salad is best enjoyed with some crusty bread on the side. Thank you for cooking along with me.
