Recently I have posted my La Pavoni professional claiming I found my end game setup.
But in the process of appreciation for vintage Italian levers I have noticed the Elektra MCAL… I was and still am satisfied with the LP. But when I saw this one available locally for what I've considered reasonable money (800€) for it's almost pristine condition the lever family has expanded.

Now for the impression:
Just done one shot so far (it was 9:30pm here so) with kind of guess dose / grind size as I could not fit 20g basket I use on the LP.
I like it – it is less robust of a shot than LP. But also quite a bit cleaner – I think the LP runs away thermal wise toward end of the shot.

All being said I am keeping them as a family as LP works really well to make a soup shot and other pressure experiments while Elektra is there for spring consistency.

Cheers!

I found the MCAL needed a certain amount of practise before I was in tune with it but once you are it’s a dream to use, it’s been part of my morning routine for nearly 20 yrs now.

As with the LP I imagine, keep an eye on the gaskets and if it gets at all sticky lubricate them with a suitable silicone gel. Plenty of good info online about occasional maintenance etc, but it won’t need much.
