It’s been a minute since I posted a real winner. And the 2011 Promontory is a champ. Pure velvety smooth tannins, bright big red fruit, no smokiness or leather. We paired it with a red sauce pasta and it was choice. I could drink this on the weekly.

Since my last post, I’ve had a number of amazing hits and some misses. We had a 2013 Scarecrow that was 👎 total disappointment, flat, lifeless, young. And a 2018 Lithology that was way too acidic. You’d think at the price point these would be ok to drink but both needed way more time.

But hits:
2007 Ridge Monte Bello
1996 Lafite
1990 Margaux
2022 The Judge (IYKYK)

Happy Monday!

Love Promontory! What went wrong with the Scarecrow?

  3. That’s quite the bottle to open on a Monday. Good for you sir and glad it was a hit! I ran it through a quick Sommelier’s Window analysis and it turns out you could cellar it till 2043! [https://sommelierswindow.com/wine/2011-promontory](https://sommelierswindow.com/wine/2011-promontory)
