Hi all!
I'm a newbie with kamado grills and just got my Medium BGE! I'm wondering if it's common, but my cooks tend to be a bit messy.
I've been finding myself trying to cook multiple things at once (chicken wings / new york steak / probably some sausages, etc), while trying to control the fire and the temperature of the different things I throw in the grill.
Curious to learn if that's something some of you have experienced? I'm now trying to stick to one thing although when I cook pork I need to add something else as my wife doesn't like it, which frequently puts me in a tricky situation of having to juggle between the egg's temp, the pork and anything else I cook on it…

I tend to just cook things that like the same temperature. So if I’m smoking a brisket or pork butt, I’ll choose to cook sides/other proteins that do well smoked.
If I’m doing something on high temp, I just cook foods that are good at high temp.
That being said if you are set on doing smoking your pork shoulder and your wife doesn’t like it…. Invest in a cooler. You can let your pork rest while you raise the temp and cook other stuff! Might be a great way to do it!
I cook multiple things at once but keep it to items that cook well at same temp and simply remove the quicker cooking item when it’s done. The only exception I have is when I’m cooking salmon because most fish cooks so much quicker than other proteins.
Also since proteins don’t take in much smoke flavor after they hit 140 degrees I’ll transfer wings and thighs from my egg to my gas grill which is set on high to finish them off quickly. That also plays into the timing when I’m cooking multiple proteins.
