Some unique options and a quick lunch I made today. Very very good. Eel leans on the dry side in this one but I made some extra eel sauce to go over top and I’m satisfied.

My favourite way to heat up this specific eel is with a good amount of butter and then drizzle it over the rice.

Thanks for including pictures, at my Asian grocery store, I get overwhelmed not being able to read the majority of the labels 😂😅

All the Chinese and Japanese tins I have tried have all been super sweet. That’s not a bad thing, just keep it in mind when choosing sides… That is, of course, if you don’t eat them direct from the can, over the kitchen sink like a heathen (me).

The Saba Kabayaki is all I ever want to eat.

I like to put two of those roast chili eel in my Tiger rice cooker, it brings out the spice and makes it that much better. It’s pretty sweet straight out of the can.

Saury is good. I haven’t found a good canned eel yet. I certainly wasn’t expecting such crunchy bones. Definitely not like the pleasant pop of deens

There are usually a ton of cheap noodle options at Asian markets which work great too. I think soba is my favorite, but udon, ramen, rice noodles and other options are also great.

I went to my local Asian grocer and got that same saury yesterday 😂
