A renowned BC restaurant has teamed up with the ever-iconic Miss Vickie’s chip company to create a limited edition Cacio e Pepe flavour chip, which is now available in some stores around Victoria.
The Cacio e Pepe chips were developed by Vancouver’s own Ask for Luigi and Miss Vickie’s for this Ristoranti Series of limited edition chips.
Two other Canadian restaurants, Pizzeria Badiali in Toronto and Nora Gray in Montreal, were also chosen to create new chip flavours.
For their additions to the Ristoranti Series, Pizzeria Badiali created a Vodka Sauce Pizza flavour and Nora Gray came up with a Pepperoncini and Focaccia flavour.
Miss Vickie’s says the goal of this new line of their beloved kettle cooked chips was to highlight some signature dishes from locally loved Italian eateries, bringing a taste of authentic Italian cuisine to their fans across the country.
BC’s contributor, Ask For Luigi, is located in Vancouver’s Railtown. Their Cacio e Pepe chips bring a balance of sharp, creamy cheese, butter and black pepper to the palate, resembling the flavours of the classic pasta dish.
Meanwhile, the Spicy Pepperoncini and Focaccia chips are an adaptation of Nora Gray’s signature Focaccia Maison with spicy pepperoncini, tangy sweet onion and notes of sourdough focaccia.
Lastly, the Vodka Sauce Pizza flavoured chips resemble a big bite of one of Toronto’s best slices, with notes of creamy tomato sauce, cheese and oregano.
“It’s a culinary dream to bring together beloved Italian dishes with the unmistakable crunch of Miss Vickie’s,” said Lisa Allie, Senior Director, Marketing, PepsiCo Foods Canada, who owns the Miss Vickie’s brand.
“This new series is a celebration of Canadian culinary culture, and we’re so proud to bring Canadians something special to enjoy across the country.”
The limited edition Miss Vickie’s flavours are being sold in some stores while supplies last. In Victoria, they are being sold at Fairway Markets and the Costco location in Langford.
