Is there anything special I need to do to breakin/’season’ this new smoker? Also, sorry if this is a dumb question, I’ve never had a smoker before, but do I have to physically light anything for this to work or is it automatic?

  1. The instructions will guide you on the firing it up. Generally no manual lighting required. It does need to be plugged in to electricity and you’ll need a bag of pellets. You will need to season it before cooking to burn off any oil on it from manufacturing.

Read the manual 🙂 It’s different from brand to brand what they recommend.

  3. Follow the given instructions they’re pretty straightforward.

That being said you’ll do an initial burn off which takes a hour or so, in addition make sure the lids open when you turn it on. There’s an igniter and if the lids closed all the smoke can light up and cause it to explode

I got the same unit last week. It needs to be primed to load the hopper and have a hot burn of about 30mins to cook off the factory smell. The instructions are in the book that came with it.

Once it’s going it’s east to adjust.

Did chicken wings on it tonight. No hurry, Easy run on p mode for an hour then cranked the heat for 10 minutes. Moist inside crispy skin and good smoke flavor.
