Brilliant wine. This is his Amarone made in cooler years. Vintage was made two years before he passed away.
Tons of complexity. Med + aromas of dried cherry, also sour cherry, dried raspberry, dried strawberry, iris, forest floor, tree bark, tar, espresso, tobacco, leather, toasted cedar, and graphite.
Intensity is pronounced on the palate echoing the nose but carried on the back of high acidity, medium tannin, high alcohol (15.5%) that is well integrated, and in a silky texture. Lingering finish of cherry and espresso bean.
Powerful but elegant.

Awesome. This is the kind of post I continue hanging on r/wine for
I’ve been eyeing this for a while. I’m not really a fan of Amarone, but his Valpolicella Classico really enchanted me, so I’d love to try some more.
We visited the winery a few weeks ago. This wine is amazing but isn’t classified as an Amarone. Less alcohol and the grapes aren’t dried as long as the amarone ones. Admittedly this wine is as good as a fair few other actual amarones in the region.
