Thai chili, soy sauce, vinegar, furikake, short grain rice, sesame oil, trader joe sardines.
Gonna try salmon next. This is the perfect breakfast.

Ya this is the way. Using dines in tomato sauce is great here, adds something to the flavor and the little bit of oil crisps some of the rice.

So you just throw them in as the rice cooks? Do you put all the oil in the can? Looks so good.

This has been my breakfast of choice for the past 2 weeks. Im obsessed!

The fish don’t taste overcooked?
SilenceOfHiddenThngs
you think this would work well in an instant pot?

try eating it with sheets of nori. i would just scoop it up with the seaweed
instead of straight vinegar i think thinly sliced quick pickled white onion would add a nice textural and acidic contrast to the intense umami flavors

Does the fish smell linger in the rice cooker at all?
funkid42

I’ve been making lazy bibimbap in my rice cooker like this all week for lunch. This is a sign that I need to upgrade to sardines in the rice cooker.
OystersCasino
are you throwing these in at the beginning of the rice cooking? i feel like this is unexplored tekk

Look amazing!!

That looks like a Zojirushi cooker? I have one and love it regardless of the steep price. The rice I buy is hella expensive too and I like it 100x than any sardine I’ve ever tried. If I make your dish and taint my rice cooker I’d be bummed af.
I’d love to try it tho. It looks amazing.

I’ve saved this and will try it with cauliflower rice.

I have this quite often and find there is no need for me to put the sardines inside the rice cooker, as the rice is steaming hot and brings the sardines to a nice temperature when added to my bowl or plate.
SimpleVegetable5715
Since the sardines are already cooked, I just plop them on top of the hot rice once it’s done cooking. I also eat it for breakfast! I like the ones with the Louisiana hot sauce over rice. You could even add some pan fried onions, peppers, and tomatoes in there 😋

Since sardines are already cooked this doesn’t overcook them ?

you can replace the rice with quinoa in the rice cooker (same water ratio) for an even healthier meal.

I just want to say thank you for not saying “Girl dinner” or “girl lunch” in the title as those threads have become insufferable. Well, the title, anyway.

Wait i have questions. You just put all this in at the beginning of the cooking cycle? I guess i have one question 😆
