Adelaide French-inspired restaurant, A Prayer for The Wild at Heart has been named Best Wine List (max 200 bottles) at the Australian Wine List of the Year Awards placing it among the most celebrated venues in the country.
For owner Emily Raven, the recognition is a reflection of her dedicated and talented team.
“It was such a thrill to see our sommelier, Mathilde Tytgat, take one of the top awards,” Emily says.
“She’s a rare talent. Many sommeliers have the backing of large restaurant groups with big budgets, but Mathilde has created something extraordinary within our small business framework.”
“Her passion for organic and biodynamic producers fits beautifully with chef Stéphane’s cooking and his deep respect for terroir.”
That connection to the land runs through everything at A Prayer for a Wild at Heart.

“Both Mathilde and Stéphane are from France, where the relationship between food, wine and the land is part of everyday life,” Emily explains.
“In our own small way, we try to express that here, celebrating what’s uniquely South Australian not only on the plate but through genuine connections to our producers and our community.”
It’s that harmony between kitchen and cellar that has made A Prayer for a Wild at Heart such a standout in Adelaide’s dining scene.
The award acknowledges years of quiet dedication to craft.
“It’s about precision, care, and gently teaching our team to ask more questions about what’s on the plate and in the glass. Seeing Mathilde’s hard work recognised at a national level means the world to all of us.”
While A Prayer for The Wild at Heart celebrates its national success, the entire RavenMead Hospitality group which includes the restaurant and all four My Kingdom for a Horse cafes have been named finalists in the Eat Drink Local category at the South Australian Premier’s Food and Beverage Industry Awards.
After a decade RavenMead have earned their own moment in the spotlight continually recognised for their commitment to sustainability and community.
“It feels fitting that both the cafes and the restaurant are being recognised at once,” Emily says.
“We’ve spent ten years celebrating South Australia’s food bowl and the people who make it special. This is our little moment in the sun.”
If you haven’t yet visited a My Kingdom for a Horse or A Prayer for The Wild at Heart, maybe it’s time you did to see what all the accolades are about. Both the cafés and the restaurant prove that when passion meets purpose, something truly special happens.
