The most outrageous price gouging is going on. I’ll post the first pictures with Doc b’s current pricing and then Door Dash pricing. Y’all I’m never ordering from them again smh. I mean adding on $7 for ribs or chicken kebabs on top of the menu price??? Then charging for delivery, tax and tip.

Yep noticed this too. We’ve gone back to calling the restaurant and placing orders or going on their app for pick up. Avoiding the delivery companies like the plague.
On top of this, you get hit with delivery charge, service fee, blah blah.
So don’t use them.
DoorDash charges these businesses something like 30%. Just go to the restaurant and pick it up yourself
Hello fyi you have the right to not use them
If you want to be lazy you’re gonna have to pay extra. Always been that way
That’s not what “price gouging” means, but go off I guess.
Gotta pay the price for the burrito taxi
Price gouging…. You aren’t using it right.
Charging crazy prices for a luxury service and thinking it’s an essential need…..
Feel free to not use delivery apps
They don’t charge for delivery and tip, DoorDash does. DoorDash takes a commission on every order, so most restaurants increase their prices on delivery apps to make it up or else they may lose money on the order. Ain’t nothing new
I never use delivery apps.
It’s a luxury. You can cook at home. Or pick it up yourself. In rush hour traffic. 😂
Easy fix. Stop using them.
Stop using them. The prices you see on door dash are never the actual prices you pay by going to get your own damn food lol
So don’t support them
I don’t see the problem. They are literally hand delivering hot food to your door for you. It should cost…more?
This is burrito taxi discourse. Of course it cost a bunch to get your food delivered to your door by a third party. As an east coaster I do miss the age of free pizza delivery by the pizzeria itself though.
I don’t understand why anyone uses delivery apps
2 solutions here
1. Stop ordering via DoorDash
2. Get the restaurant to have their own delivery staff
It’s just a modern day room service. We don’t allow our kids to order food this way and I’ve never personally ordered. It’s too expensive.
Stop being lazy and either eat at the restaurant or pick it up yourself.
Don’t fucking use DD. Call directly and go pick up. You pay to be lazy.
I’m the Director of Operations for a restaurant group. Unless the restaurant has someone negotiating every year with third party delivery companies, the standard commission rates vary between 25-35%. That is often the profit margin on those food items.
With constant negotiating we typically operate within 15-20% commission. Because of this, our prices on those apps are increased 8% (rounded to the nearest .49/.99 ending), as a way to mitigate that rate.
As many others have said restaurants would love it if you picked up your own food. It’s cheaper for the customer, no one has to interact with the delivery drivers, and you will get better quality/hot food.
Everyone just got comfortable with third party delivery, post COVID.
This is also part of why I think we are seeing much higher prices. Door dash/Uber Eats/ brought in a ton of new restaurant options, offering very low to non-existent commission rates during COVID. We are now seeing the correction of this “third party delivery bubble”. Customers still order in droves from these platforms as the habit has been built.
A single location of ours brought in $5k+ from solely Door dash last week, almost 12% of it’s sales for the week. It’s something we have never experienced to this volume before, and is likely due to ACL crowds, but people are too reliant on the convenience of not leaving their homes.
The economy is tanking and also those are all marked up and look high end.
It’s not DoorDash increasing the price, it’s the restaurant covering the additional cost of DD and the lost drink revenue, which is fundamental to the economics of most restaurants.
Yea that’s why I don’t use DoorDash, but if u want convenience, gotta pay extra
I feel like everyone saying “well don’t order delivery from them if you don’t like it” is missing the part of the post where op literally says their going to stop ordering delivery because they don’t like it.
Co-workers come in every day with restaurant food and beverages, then order lunch delivery, while openly expressing concern they won’t be able to make housing or vehicle payments. My point is that a lot of people don’t care what prepared meals cost when they want it badly enough, and demand determines pricing.
Maybe stop using DoorDash? Then you don’t have to care!
This isn’t a local company it’s a national company. Don’t bother with them.
You want a private taxi for your dinner and then complain that a private taxi costs more than pickup. smh
You know restaurants set the prices right?
