


The wind is blustering, Autumn colors red, orange and gold are swirling in the air and the Squirels are gathering nuts for their Winter stash…it’s time to warm up the kitchen with the fragrance of freshly baked bread. My first Sourdough loaf in 5 or 6 years. After years of baking bread with fruit yeast water and sourdough starter I suddenly couldn’t get a starter to well, start. I finally realized that we had purchase a new refrigerator right about the time I started having problems (first time having one with a water filter feature). Took me all this time but the filtered water from my refrigerator was killing my starter. I attempted to make one last week with good old home town tap water and voilá a beautiful starter was created. A cautionary tale for anyone else who is having trouble with their starter.
