Growing my own coffee tree!!! This Rwandan bean will take about five years to grow, harvest, and roast before I can pull my first shot 🤣. Wish me luck. Ill come back in about 5 years to update you guys lol. Anyone growing your own coffee at home? I would love to hear your experience.

Mister (shall I call you mista?), you just bought a one way ticket to r/espressocirclejerk !
Do a hydro setup next
I have several coffee trees and the first year they gave me cherries I picked, processed and dried. Never got to roasting and drinking as one professional coffee farmer told me I’d done things wrong anyway. One day I’ll try roasting what I have just for the heck of it but my thought after all that work was why isn’t coffee $100 a pound?! It was so much work! and then to find out I hadn’t done it right was maddening. I’ll get back to it one day though because it was also kinda fun.
RemindMe! 5 years 5 months
can they get the same as they do in their “home country” without altitude, climate, temp and humidity?
Tell us about the climate, zone, country, etc.
South Alabama? Don’t expect much.
NYC Balcony? Don’t expect much.
Share more about your location, broadly, and process, and so on.
Sounds fascinating to be sure, but details matter.
