I've been waiting a long time to try this with mortadella as it's impossible to find in my area. Tried it with bologna before but it's not as good as this. Second one I added a fried egg and hotsauce. I used Dietz & Watson's which I imagine is on the lower end for mortadella? I honestly don't know much about Italian meats.

It’s ok but not that good ( I love Bourdain very much but just being honest here)
It’s an easy and satisfying sandwich to throw together after a busy shift (or in the middle of one) and much better when you have freshly sliced mort on hand. Sorry you don’t have easy access to those things.
ffs whats the recipe/ingredient list man? come on!
There are very different qualities of mortadella.
Looks delicious 😋
I didn’t care for it. Found it too fatty and greasy
I tried real mortadella once. Tasted exactly like bologna, just had the fat concentrated, but even where the fat wasn’t, it tasted like bologna to me. Maybe I have a less sophisticated palate :/
People get so worked up over a fried bologna sandwich I don’t get it
In the past month there have been 17 posts on making this sandwich. We get it, Bourdain made a sandwich, let’s move on.
Olive salad would make that perfect
A little arugula goes great on these as well.

Can I have some?
Miss Bourdain. Just came back from Thailand and visited most of the restaurants he went to. RIP.
looks good, the thing that sets mortadella aside from bologna is pistachios and sometimes olives but you still have the random lumps of fat so you’re not *that* far off in terms of texture. flavor wise you are very, very far off lol.
Dietz and Watson are definitely on the higher end of deli meats.
