CARROLLWOOD — An Italian restaurant concept from Cooper’s Hawk will open Oct. 20 in the former Romano’s Macaroni Grill space at 14904 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
Piccolo Buco by Cooper’s Hawk marks the first Florida location for the concept from the Illinois-based winery and hospitality group. Tampa’s only Macaroni Grill closed in 2023, and the site has been completely gutted and renovated.
The restaurant is one of two new Piccolo Buco locations to compliment the inaugural site in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Cooper’s Hawk founder and CEO Tim McEnery was inspired to create the concept after discovering Chef Luca Issa and his authentic pizza at Piccolo Buco Roma, near Rome’s Trevi Fountain. The menu features pizza, pasta dishes such as spaghetti carbonara and mezzi rigatoni alla vodka, and entrees including chicken Parmesan. Desserts such as tiramisu and gelato will also be available, along with wine and cocktails.
Founded in 2005 by McEnery, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant now operates more than 60 locations and has nearly 750,000 wine club members. Two Cooper’s Hawk locations operate in the Tampa area: 4110 W. Boy Scout Blvd. in Westshore and 28963 State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel, which opened in 2023.
