Bro slammed that whole fat cap like a champ. Oof.

  2. I would be so afraid to tip that over. I like the pit though. A pig rotisserie over that would be awesome. Also, that was a lot of flame. I would like to see them get a low coal heat going. Another question I have is how well the wire holds up under multiple cooks. Would the rocks just let go?

  3. Looks cool, wouldn’t want to clean out the ashes though, that would suck

  4. ToolDrummerDC

I hope he reinforced that gabion wall 🤦

  5. ZeeHedgehog

Honestly, I dig it. I would just use a finer/denser mesh because if the mesh holding the rocks fails, like when you accidentally drop the grate on it, that would be a disaster.

Leading that bite with a 2” fat cap is nasty work.

You definitely don’t build a new grill or use a new one before a good burnout. You need to cook off the residual crap on the metals first for a good while before cooking food. Even some store bought grills have a light coating of wax on the grill grates to avoid rusting while packaged and in shipping.
Either way, that is one bad ass pit!

Best of all, it’s portable! Just collect the rocks and move them anywhere. #practical

Seems reasonable until you realize how much stones that size cost if you don’t have them on your land already. For most of us concrete would be cheaper.

When the wire frame rusts that’s going to be a mess.

  11. BigT-2024

At that point should have just put wood sides up and poured in cement. Would have been cheaper than the rocks.

  12. DeerWhisperer1

I now have a desire to build one of these to cook an entire deer hindquarters.

  13. is that wire coated in carcinogenic materials?

  14. 2cool4skool369

The black paint slowing scraping away off the cross bar when he rolls it, lightly sprinkling the meat with every rotation is what really got me.

Not a big fan of heating up galvanized metal near my food. At least it’s not sitting on it while it’s cooking? I’m assuming that’s a food safe grill it’s cooking on, which may be generous.

Maybe don’t breathe near it while it’s lit.

  16. All this effort to just burn your steaks on an open flame.

  17. Leudmuhr

That’s impressive that he lit that with just one match.

  18. MarionberryFew7660

Zero chance this thing makes it 1 full summer with that wire wrap

Think it would be easier to raise and lower the food with a crank handle on the axle pipe but maybe he likes a good pump in his forearms.

  20. YoungBockRKO

Not smoking, that’s going to be hell to clean out, among other issues. But “cool” DYI TikTok you got there, I guess.

that Cage will be burned through quite fast…

  22. sold_once

Until those rocks get hot and start popping.

  23. No-Produce-6641

Did all that but couldn’t fashion a simple handle as a crank?

  24. Agile-Fruit128

Held together with some tie wire. He didn’t build anything

  25. Lopsided-Order3070

Wtf? Why? He made a lot of poor choices here….

  26. Tuffwith2Fs

I’m willing to bet there’s a fair amount of galvanized material in there in which case…I’ll pass.

  27. stratj45d28

Hell no. This is definitely trolling. So much wrong here.

  28. AjaxTheClown

There’s basically nothing about this that I like. For sure not smoking either.

    Edit: bot account. Of course

  29. xxxlun4icexxx

Anyone watching this wanting a chance to live to 70 please do not grill/weld/burn galvanized metal.

  30. the_mow_down

Didn’t even let it rest before he sliced it…

  31. theshreddening

Thats just a grill…not a smoker. Or artisan. Its just rocks.

  32. dathomasusmc

Not a smoker and really using it as a grill. Also, he did all that work but could be bothered to to add a little handle to turn it with?
