I’ve never baked a nata before, but for some reason I decided it just can’t be that hard. If this is your first introduction to me, then hello and welcome. This is my show, but bigger. And it’s a very easy concept to understand. I take small food and I make it big. I’m sure most of the class is aware of the curriculum by now, but it’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these, so I thought I might need to reintroduce the concept. Today, the enlarging ray has been aimed at a pastel dinetta. I’m sure there are plenty of Portuguese people seething at my pronunciation. Traditionally, when you make a nata, you’ll take puff pastry and you’ll roll it up into a spiral, which gives it a distinctive look and loads of crispy flaky layers, which is something I personally lose my mind over. For the traditional small ones, you’ll take a puck of pastry and push it into a buttered mold. Then, you’ll fill each of these with the netta custard. And can I just say, has anyone ever just turned this custard into ice cream? Because if not, I feel like that would just be the gasoline. Don’t steal my idea. I took a lesson from my giant cinnamon roll, and I made one huge spiral using an entire sheet of puff pastry. And one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about while I was making this is, isn’t this basically just a sweet kiche? Anyway, not to toot my own horn, but I think that this looks incredibly good. It’s the middle of the night. I’ve already recorded this taste test. I forgot to press record. I already know that this is good. It is very good. The mini ones are good, too. M. It’s a win either way. Goodbye.

  1. Portuguese guy here: the pronunciation wasnt actually bad tbh

you can say pastel kinda like puh-sh-tell, make the e in "de" a bit more silent, and say nata like nah-ta and it'll sound more natural

  2. On the subject of large grapes, Ruslan Panchenko holds the record for the largest grape ever grown. Having been picked in 2017, the record grape was 100mm by 32mm by 44mm and weighed 26 grams, being the equivalent of FIVE normal grapes.

  5. Hi I’m not Portuguese I’m Brazilian but personally the way you pronounced pastel de nata is ok not bad considering you aren’t Brazilian
(Portuguese from Portugal sounds bad and weird I’m sorry but they have funny accents and are hard to understand Brazilian Portuguese is also easier to learn if your a foreigner) also unrelated I hate those because the texture much like a quiche is unsettling and is a sensory issue for me

  6. Ohhh we have something similar in China called 蛋挞, good job jt looks delicious! Idk how accurate it is in Portuguese culture though haha
