Chef Callan Austin

Under his leadership, DUSK has collected a long list of accolades, including Eat Out’s prestigious 3-star rating, Best New Restaurant and recognition from the JHP Gourmet Guide.

Head Chef Daniel Martin
Joining Austin at the helm is Daniel Martin, who takes the roles of Head Chef and Operations Manager, overseeing the day-to-day running of Opá! Greek Street Food.
Martin brings a wealth of experience from some of Cape Town’s top fine dining kitchens, including Salsify, FYN and Gåte at Quoin Rock, as well as international experience in Northern Ireland.
Now celebrating his tenth year in the industry, Austin marks this milestone with a refreshing new chapter in his first solo venture, Opà! Greek Street Food. Moving from the world of fine dining to street-style cooking, Austin’s newest concept is a celebration of the Mediterranean spirit: soulful, sun-drenched flavours without the frills. The focus is on simplicity done well.
Guests can expect fresh, simple and honest dishes inspired by traditional Greek street fare. Highlights include the open gyros (tender braised lamb shoulder finished on the flat top for a soft yet crispy texture, served on a fluffy pita style flatbread with sumac-spiced tzatziki, roasted tomato relish, crispy Greek fries, mint, pomegranate molasses and crispy chickpeas) and chicken kalamaki (chicken marinated overnight in spiced yoghurt and olive oil, grilled and served with lemon yoghurt dressing and fresh herbs). All ingredients used are Halaal, ensuring everyone can enjoy the vibrant flavours of Opá! Greek Street Food.

“We are incredibly proud to have Callan join our line-up of the top local talent. His creativity, craftsmanship and energy will bring something truly special to the Market. Opá! Greek Street Food captures the kind of culinary innovation and passion that defines the spirit of the Market,” adds Russ Meyer, General Manager of Time Out Market Cape Town.
Bringing together a curated collection of Cape Town’s most celebrated chefs, restaurateurs, and artisans, Time Out Market Cape Town continues to showcase the city’s best food and culture under one roof.
