Harvested a few big Thai hybrid peppers with this mottled orangey color (they should be solid red). I have several plants, and only one seems affected.

Are the peppers safe to eat? Is the soil poisoned for future plants?

  1. It looks like candy lol. Like you put a fruit roll up over the pepper. Not sure what happened though sorry bout your peppers

I wonder if it something like mosaic virus? Looks very abnormal.

My guess is damage from stink bugs. Its mostly cosmetic

Hybrids can sometimes give you unpredictable and strange results. We get posts all the time of strange colorings from hybrids. One pepper out of ten gets some kind of mottling and then people want to reproduce them. That’s part of the problem with hybrids. They can be unreliable in both taste and coloration. It’s extremely difficult to tell if it is an actual problem or if that’s just how that one pepper turned out. When growing hybrids…you just need to wing it.

  5. I think you plucked it mid maturation, looks like it was weird tho
