I am dreaming of the croissants I’ve had at Commom Bond in Houston and Arsicault in San Francisco. Super buttery and flaky. Where should I go here?

Sour Duck Market is really good. I recommend them to a lot of people.

I had this super buttery and flaky almond croissant yesterday at Medici Roasting. I can’t remember where they said they get them from daily but it was so so good.

What part of town? Epicerie and Bakery Lorraine are two good options. North central and north, respectively.

Upper crust bakery makes very good ones as per my French friend!

Epicerie, Good Things in Fairmont, Rockman, and if you’re up for a drive, excellent pastries out at Abby Jane in Dripping Springs.

Teal House Cafe & Bakery has been the only place in town I’ve been able to find decent croissants.

Interested in trying a couple others but not getting my hopes up too much.

if you want a filled pistachio croissant, I had a good one at Latin Bakery on 620. the filling does take away somewhat from the overall flakiness but it was a well made pastry

I don’t know what she’s up to now, but pastry chef Kendall Melton made the best croissants I’ve ever had in my life. She had an online ordering business going for a few years. Worth every penny. I’d love to have those again.

I agree with Epicerie. Matok definitely passes the eye test, can’t wait to try that.

OP, if you ever find yourself in Houston again check out Magnol. Common Bond is great and all, but Magnol makes the best croissant I have ever had in the US hands down.

You can get pastries that look like this at Rockman but they aren’t that great. Sour duck is much better

Swedish Hill!! Also, Peacock at the Proper Hotel has the best almond croissant I’ve ever had in my life.

Not useful comment here, but you can get pistachio croissants like this in Switzerland for like 1CHF in the grocery store and they’re so good. Miss the bakeries in EU

  13. Was in San Antonio this past weekend and had fabulous French pastries, they have an Austin location, Saveurs La Boulangerie in Westlake.

Baguette eat Chocolat in Bee Cave. Worth the drive IMO.

In Round Rock, there is Unicorniverse. It is by Gold’s Gym at Hester’s crossing and IH 35.

There are only a couple places I go for croissants and pastries like this and my favorite is Michelle’s Patisserie.

Although they have two locations, you will need to go to their Liberty Hill location for the fresh croissants and pastries unless pre-ordering for pickup at the 620 location. The other option is the small farmer’s market every Saturday in the Lakeline Mall parking lot, they have had both of the pastries you are showing in your photos every weekend that I have gone.

I do not know why their pastry chef, Quinten, is not on the main website but he is the genius making all the pastries at the Liberty Hill location.

As mentioned, you can also find him and his pastries at the little farmer’s market there in the Lakeline mall parking lot on Saturday. He is super nice and I love that French accent as he describes each magical creation. You can tell he absolutely loves baking and having tried almost every one of his beautiful creations, he has perfected both the art and science as everything is perfect in aesthetics, flavor and texture.

Unfortunately I do not have any photos of my own to share, but might update after this weekend as I do plan to make a visit.

Glancing at the main website, for some reason I am not seeing everything he makes at the Liberty Hill location listed so he does have additional things not shown. My favorite item does not even seem to be listed and of course, I could not tell you the French name as I do not remember it. I know he has it every weekend at the farmers market though.

I have had the Dubai Chocolate Croissant shown on the link which is wonderful if you like dark chocolate and a very sweet textured pistachio filling. He does have similar croissants with no chocolate and a smooth pistachio filling as well and it looks identical to the first photo you show.

I have also had one that looks like your second photo and I think he told me it was just an almond croissant if memory serves me correctly? I know he had both a chocolate and almond version, and I get the almond one every time I visit as it is one of my favorites.

He does a nice job on savory items as well. The quiche are small and have a really nice piecrust dough and are nice too. I think they could use a bit more filling for a better piecrust/filling ration but are still very nice.

If I ever moved away from Austin, I would still drive to the farmers market on Lakeline and Liberty Hill for these croissants and pastries!

  17. Saveurs la boulangerie and Violettes are both great too. Saveurs has a raspberry one that’s striped like the pic.

Get the croissant beignets at Elizabeth St. Café, absolutely incredible

  19. Maleficent-Tough5041

The best croissants I’ve ever had in Austin were from Afugo Coffee and Rockman

  20. fgoodlook

Matok bakery has a variety of multi layered croissants and a number of pastries/cakes/breads etc. Just be aware that she makes everything day of so you will have to order in advance.

For a good plain classic, epicerie. Rockman has some decent flavored ones
