    It all depends on context.

    For example onions on a hot dog should be burnt.

    For me it’s to much. Onions take pretty long on low temperature to get crispy. I would say your temperature was to high.

    There are so many other issues here, the well done onions are the least of our concerns.

    I absolutely love sauteed onions but if I can offer some constructive feedback then cook them for longer at a lower heat and use some sort of fat in the pan like butter. If I’m pan cooking I’ll usually shoot for medium heat or a little lower. It will help keep them from burning and they should turn a nice dark brown color after awhile instead of charred black
