Decided I would start this as a hobby. I would love to be able to do them for holidays/ family and friends! Please give me any advice you have and tips.
I think my icing consistency was a little off for the outlining. Also how do you prevent air bubbles in your flood and what could be causing it? The writing was free hand and my icing was way to think and had air bubbles in the pilling bag.

For air bubbles, I learned to let it sit after mixing for 10 minutes, covered with a moist towel or plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out. This will allow the bubbles to come to the service. You can also bang it on a table or counter to get them to float up. Then pop them with your scribe tool. For air in bags, give it a massage before using it, that helps. For bubbles in your flood, just pop them with your tool and smoothe it back out!
Consistency is hard and takes so much practice to get right!
I let my icing sit before using it after mixing and then I swing my icing bag like a helicopter before I cut it open. 😂
Like others have said, let the icing sit. I actually cover mine w Press and Seal and pit in Tupperware w a lid overnight. It’s as smooth as silk.
Not a cookie decorator but I think the effect of the white BOO! is quite cool for a that theme!
They look terrific! As others have mentioned, it really just takes a lot of practice in time. You’ll get better and better. I have noticed if it’s been a long time in between making cookies that I get a little “rusty”. You kind of forget the feel of the icing that you need to have. When you’re doing it more frequently becomes second nature after a while. Your friends and family will be thrilled.
This was really helpful for icing consistencies!

Like others have said, let your icing sit for a while and settle. I actually tap (hard) my bowl on the counter several times and that helps know down the air. Also do the helicopter method on the bags. Just make sure they are sealed well and pray that they don’t break.
For consistency it takes practice to figure out what works best for you and done method you are using. Such as if you are wanting to drop dots or swirl you want a wetter consistency, if you want it to be puffy it needs to be thicker, etc. my favorite trick is I start out with a really thick white base before I start coloring and bagging. As I’m making my different colors and consistencies I use a spray bottle with water because you will find it doesn’t take very much water to thin it and I have a lot more control.
Basically it just takes practice to figure out what works best for you. Yours looks really good!
