ABILENE, TX — The West Texas Wine Festival kicked off on Saturday afternoon. The fundraising event supported Frontier Texas and included music, food, wineries, and more.

Executive director of Frontier Texas, Jeff Salmon, labeled the fundraiser as a “gift” to Abilene residents. He explained that the end goal is not solely to raise money for Frontier Texas, but to ensure a positive experience for all guests.

“This is a fundraiser for our museum, but it’s really, also, kind of a gift to our community.”

Salmon noted that another positive element of the West Texas Wine Festival is seeing local wineries get exposure.

“Some of these wineries are somewhat from around the region and they’re pretty small,” he said. “It can make a big difference for them to get in front of Abilene wine-drinkers.”

Salmon remarked how wine appeals to a wide range of palates.

“It’s fun to watch different people enjoy different types of wines,” Salmon said.
