Produced by the association Cultura e Risco and led by project author Margarida Mendes Silva, the initiative uses wine as a “pretext for a diverse cultural offering” while encouraging audiences to explore less familiar venues. This year, four new spaces will host activities: the Art Gallery at Casa da Mutualidade, the University of Coimbra Press, the Semente Atelier at the city’s Major Seminary, and Casa Costa Lobo.
The 2025 edition pays tribute to artist Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, remembered as a sharp, inventive, and satirical figure, on the 120th anniversary of his death. A highlight will be the Bordalo-themed wine dinner on 25 October at Cordel restaurant, with a menu by chef Paulo Queirós inspired by Paródia Culinária, à mesa de Bordalo. Natural wines from Lisbon will accompany the dishes.
The programme opens and closes with a film cycle paired with tastings prepared by gastronomy students at the Coimbra School of Education. Screenings include the Franco-Vietnamese production The Taste of Things (15 October), the Iranian film My Favourite Cake (22 October), and the Franco-Moroccan drama Adam (29 October).
Other highlights include the exhibition Carlos Cabral: Port Wine Labels (16 October–7 November), a Port wine show cooking (23 October), a wine and cheese tasting from the Sicó region (17 October), and a poetic prose reading with wine-inspired gelato (19 October).
The schedule also features guided conversations, the launch of Rafael de faca e garfo by Ana Marques Pereira (24 October), and an excursion to the Sicó region (26 October).
This year’s edition is dedicated to Maria Regina Pinho, co-founder of Cultura e Risco, who passed away in July 2025. Full details, including registration for certain paid events, are available online.
