So apparently Mahlkönig, the grinder guys, finally made their own espresso machine. It’s called Xenia and they showed it a few days ago at Host Milano 2025. I didn’t even know they were working on something like that. From what I’ve read, Hemro Group (that’s Mahlkönig’s parent company) bought a small German brand called Xenia Espresso earlier this year. They were making really nice dual boiler machines before. Now it looks like Mahlkönig used that to make their own version.

The new Mahlkönig Xenia is supposed to be a home espresso machine but kind of high end. It has two boilers, steam for milk, and apparently can talk to Mahlkönig grinders like the E64 WS so it adjusts the grind and dose automatically. That part sounds wild but also really interesting. They also say it works with apps like Bean Conqueror and has WiFi, stainless steel body, lots of sensors and some smart stuff inside. It heats up in something like 5 to 15 minutes depending on the setup.

No price yet, but the old Xenia machines were around 2500 to 3000 dollars so probably somewhere there. They said it’s coming later this fall and preorders already started in some places. I think it’s kind of a big move for Mahlkönig, since now they can sell a full home setup, grinder and machine. Curious how it actually performs and if it’s anywhere near a La Marzocco or Decent. Anyone here seen it at the show or tried it yet?

Interesting stuff, thanks for report 🙂
Sadly, this home espresso machines are now suddenly all high end and prices go 2,3k and above. Really crazy. I have a Gaggia classic, I paid it couple of years ago around 350eur and it still works ok, but I was thinking about upgrading. When I checked prices, that some brands are offering single boiler machines for 700,800 and plus, I said to my self I will pass it. Paying 2,3k for good home machines maybe makes sense for some people who are earning 10times that in a month, for me, no way…

i really hope that the grinder is priced affordably. like their single dosing grinder.

Guess I have very specific taste, because I really don’t get excited about more industrial looking designs with all these exposed chrome parts. This is better than some, but I would love more clean, modern designs to hit the market.

  4. I’m curious to know more about the new grinders, in particular the pricing.

  5. Pretty well known brand in the german coffee board, the owner used to be very active there but he said it will maybe change. The machine was developed with lots of user input and at least used to be very customisable, repairs were easy and helpful support. Afaik pretty much everyone was really satisfied.

Cool, but all of those sensors and WiFi/bluetooth add a lot of points of failure to the machine. I don’t want to have to have the machine serviced/take it apart to clean them off every few years.

My eyes and taste buds can do a better job of dialing in a grind size than any machine can anyway.

Looks beautiful I love the hybrid e61/ascaso look this machine has, and I love that it’s dual boiler, but I don’t want the pointless electronic frills

interesting, but please no “smart” features, I don’t want my coffee maker spying on me
