Had this big piece of “charcoal” that turned out to be a huge rock. Initially looked just like the other pieces.

Been seeing this more and more across several brands of char, I try to excuse it as accidental but one begins to wonder when the char is sold by weight.

It happens pretty often. On another Kamado forum, we used to have a thread where we’d post pictures of the crazy stuff we found in bags of lump. A competition of sorts.

Rocks, Cinder block chunks, Fiberglass insulation, etc. Some brands produced certain types of debris more than others. Like the ones that use construction offcuts (looking at you cowboy) turned up more crazy stuff. But rocks can show up in any of them since they’re picking it up and moving it around with loaders and equipment.

I keep em in a pile. Purely my own experience but I seem to find more in the bge brand bags, fewer in Fogo. Not shilling for the brand, just my experience.

If Fogo wants to pay me I’ll gladly shill for them, though.
