For the first time ever (15 years canning experience), I’ve had ALL of my lids fail. Coincidence that this was my first time using the cheaper Walmart brand jars?
I reprocessed them with new lids from the other half of the box and ALL of those failed too. Anyone have trouble with this brand?

Yeah the only time I had cans fail was during Covid when all I could find were cheap unknown brand lids. I use them for dry food or temp fridge storage.
From what I’ve heard the jars themselves are fine but the Mainstays lids suck. I would try them with the brand of lids that you usually use and toss the lids that came on the jars.
I recently got some mainstays jars for the first time and out of 12 Pints, one didn’t seal. My next batch, I used ball jars I had already with new ball lids. Out of 9, one sealed. I’ve been having such awful results with ball lids this and last year. I got some azure standard jars last year and had 100% success.
I’ve been losing my mind trying to figure out wtf I’m doing wrong, but it seems the common denominator of non sealing jars since last year has been ball lids. Sorry you had bad luck with the mainstays. I’ve been debating just buying those from now on since I had such better success this year!
The seals on those are the worst!
I only use Ball jars. I strictly can Tuna and I have very few failures. It’s worth the few extra dollars
Half of mine failed with this brand. The lids looked so nice, too!
I have some of these too, from when I couldn’t find any Ball or Kerr to buy. The jars work great, but the lids are a little crappy. Switch out the lids to more reliable ones and you’ll be good to go.
I just opened a case of those my wife bought last year, can’t say if they seal or not, they had some sort of film on them and smelled terrible when you removed the lids.
