What I admire about Marco is that he reached the mountaintop. He got three stars. An Englishman who’d never been to France cooking French food. And he didn’t want it anymore. He gave his stars back and said, “I’ve done my thing. I want to spend my days cashing checks and walking around in that English countryside shooting animals.

  1. Ah but not just those pastimes dear Anthony; we mustn't neglect mention of his building of the world's only castle made entirely of Knorr stockpot

  2. Honestly way more sane perspective then the current crop of boomers jealously holding on to their fragile positions of power attempting to pretend to be useful and important way past their sell by date.

  3. Anthony Bourdain was the antithesis of Marco Pierre White. The guy was a rich kid going to the best schools and he just wanted to slum it with the poors while in his head he knew he thought he was better than them

  4. He abandoned his work because he wanted to raise his children. He said so himself. He normally would have to leave home when they were still sleeping in the morning and come back when they were already sleeping at night and he couldn't stand that. Also he had achieved at a very young age all that could be achieved in his field. So why bother?

  5. He trained under Albert and Michel Roux, Pierre Koffman and Raymond Blanc for 6 years – who needs to go to France, when the French were here in London?!

  6. He was mature enough to not let his success slave him the rest of his life, he wanted to do others things too

  7. "Why would I let some stranger who knows less than me decide if I deserve a star or not?"
