OLEA (Organization of Laboratory Expert Tasters – APS) kicks off the new edition of the competitions The Gold of Italy e The Gold of the Mediterranean established to select, reward and promote in the world the best extra virgin olive oils from Italy and the Mediterranean, produced with passion and expertise by Italian and Mediterranean olive growers and millers.
“An unmissable event for the most motivated Italian and foreign producers – explains OLEA – many of whom recognize L’Oro d’Italia and L’Oro del Mediterraneo as among the most authoritative and rigorous competitions in the national and international panorama, for the efficient organization, for the qualified juries, for the effective dissemination and promotion and, not least, thanks to the non-profit purposes of the association, for the lowest registration costs among all the existing competitions”.
L’Oro d’Italia and L’Oro del Mediterraneo are projects promoted and organized by OLEA (Associazione Laboratorio Esperti Assaggiatori – APS), one of the first and most important Associations of Professional Tasters, accredited at international level, which was the first, since 1990, even before its official constitution in 1995, thanks to its late and unforgettable first president Ettore Franca, to create and promote olive oil competitions, first local and regional, then national and international, always guaranteeing seriousness, impartiality and total transparency as well as absolute competence, always convinced that comparison was the most suitable means to stimulate the growth of the quality of olive oil.
All the organizational phases of the competitions are managed by Organizing Committee and the expert technical staff of OLEA. To carry out their task in the best possible way, the juries, always coordinated and directed by the Panel leader Giorgio Sorcinelli, are composed of a minimum of 16 up to a maximum of 24 expert judges, all professional tasters of absolute reliability and experience, selected among the members of tasting committees/panels recognized by MASAF and other international ones.
OLEA has its registered office at the prestigious “A. Cecchi” Higher Education Institute in Pesaro, its operational headquarters in Fano and is equipped with a tasting committee recognized by MASAF that operates in its tasting room in Jesi (AN).
OLEA is committed to promoting and making known all the participating oils, with priority to the award-winning oils, during meetings, trade fairs, tastings, courses and promotional events organized by it during the year, as well as on its website, where the Competition rankings become real “free” online Guides of the best extra virgin olive oils from Italy and the Mediterranean, published when the oils are still fresh, with links capable of leading to the evaluation sheets and the Companies, including the archive of previous vintage editions.
