If that last ticket is 10:05 and you closed at 10:00, I’d be a little miffed.

Actually I’d be miffed regardless because I bitch a lot while I work. Sucks amigo. Here’s to enjoying that smoke/drink/fuck/cereal at the end of your shift even more!

Times like this suck, but they’re (hopefully) few and far between.
    You’ve got this, chef.

Did they give you a heads up that they were seating late tables, at least? Never bothered me when I was closing as long as they gave me some warning, I’d lose my shit if I have to find out from the printer noises. Primal hatred for that sound

I feel you- this happens to us relatively often.
Two-thirds are sat, with drinks, and…“They’re just coming from the airport now- they’ll be 5 minutes” 25 minutes later I ask them to text their colleagues to get their order. They balk. We stick our dicks in their mashed potatoes and have a couple stouts on-the-house. 🍻

Please tell me one of those steaks were ordered well done. This shit is always the worst.

Idk how y’all are so chill in these comments. Not much can piss me off, but the entitlement of people who think their desire is more important than a service industry workers’ free time always set me off. In my mind, it’s no better than one of my previous bosses who’d often come in just as I was locking up to tell me she forgot about a catering order she needed me to immediately help her fulfill for the next hour.

Does the dingleberry that okayed know how you feel?

I was running a kitchen where we stopped food at 11 but had a late night happy hour at 10 — kinda Mexicanish inspired menu and that late night rush was such a fucking pain

Had a new guy start and he was on grill — we were all closing down stations and shit and I’m like “dude you might wanna make like 20 nachos real quick it’s almost happy hour again”

And he’s like “what? No they take like 2 seconds”

    Okay bro whatever you want

Next 30 tickets were nachos and he was so fucking mad that he couldn’t clean anything because he had to make a bunch of nachos and could only fit like 6 in the oven at a time

We were 20 minutes past food service being offered and he’s still pulling nachos out of the oven

Sorry dude I tried to warn you hahaha

I generally don’t understand how people can be so confident as to not be physically out of a location by the time they close.

Fuck these people, and they are probably going to tip like shit and complain/try to get shit takin off the bill.

  11. Y’all there reservation was for 9:15 they showed up 35 min late we panned down flipped and wrapped thinking its a no show
    …jokes on us

  12. Ginger_Idiot90

……if its the last 30 min before closing I wont go to any restaurant. I dont need that level of anger directed at me.

  13. What makes a man order food right before close? A lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of hunger?

  14. RyanBordello

“Look there’s people inside eating, let’s go grab a table”

  15. Virtual-Product2298

Absolutely not. Holy shit dude I would throw them out.

  16. Iatemydoggo

If the GM was already gone I’d just leave. Fuck. That.

  17. GlomBastic

“the sign got flipped 20 minutes ago”

Y’all ain’t closing shit for an hour.

  18. Jillcametumbling81

Don’t most of y’all get paid by the hour?

  19. awhaleinawell

That sucks. People are so entitled. I understand closing times, but there’s a lot of work that goes into cleaning and shutting a place down at night. Plus, people need to be able to go home and (try to) sleep.

I hope you get out soon!

15 min last call for those still eating and finishing up.  The restaurant can’t be that hard up to take those orders?

  21. Different-Bag-8217

Don’t focus on that. As hard as that is and the job is. This is what happens time to time and it’s all a part of what we do and why. Smash it like you own it and make sure that management and owners know your killing it.. it should come back to you in spades, if not than find a place where it will..
