There are marathons where you run and others where you eat. To the latter group belongs the Great Cheese Marathon organized by the French cheese factory Brie Alto in its Bistrot of the Vallehermoso Market (Calle de Vallehermoso, 36), with success of call among its particular “runners” every time it is convened.

The reason for its success lies in its appealing formula: to enjoy, in the casual atmosphere of the market and with the closeness that characterizes the fromagerie team, 25 varieties of very good cheeses at will for 25 €.

Due to the good reception of the event, as we say, this family cheese shop has been forced “to open more races” to be able to absorb the demand generated by each edition, and there are already four new dates in sight: November 5 and 19 and December 3 and 17, 2025.

Beyond the Great Cheese Marathon, at their Bistrot in Vallehermoso you can also have a French appetizer -the menu includes everything from fresh oysters fines de claire, brought directly from Marennes d’Oléron, to bikinis made with their cheeses- or attend other events such as wine and cheese tastings.

On the other hand, in his store in Mercado de Chamberí (Calle de Alonso Cano, 10) -the first one that Richard Dhieras and Pauline Vallantin Dulac, brothers-in-law, opened in 2020- the French cheese tradition is embodied in raw milk cheeses, made by small French producers: from a Camembert made with a spoon to a Comté reserve of 18 months or a Roquefort.

In addition to cheeses, there are other gourmet French products such as foie mi-cuit, duck confit, jams, cassoulet, cured meats and wines from all over France for pairing.
