Looks beautiful! I hope you rested it proper though, it looks a little watery in your bottom photo. I personally would have cooked it longer as well so we agree on that 🙂

Keep trying. You will get there but good effort.

That’s great for a first try. You got the tough part done, nice color without over cooking, now just put it in a low temp oven, maybe 240 til desired doneness internal. Usually between 125-135 depending on if you want your medium rare closer to rare or medium

Looks good! I’d down that so fast

Silence to all the haters, rare steaks are superior.

Do a reverse sear. Take a similar sized steak and bake it on a wire rack over a baking sheet at 350 for 30-60 mins (timing depends on your oven), internal temp 115-125. Then cook it exactly how you did in that photo to get the crust. Then let it rest for 10 mins with some butter thrown on top and covered in tin foil

Not bad for first time! Did it go straight from the fridge to the pan? It looks to me like it was too cold when you cooked it so you got a nice sear but the inside is on the rarer side. That could also happen if the pan was way too hot but I don’t think that’s the case because the garlic would be burnt to a crisp.

Next time let it sit out on the counter 15-20 mins before cooking.

A win until you sliced WITH the grain. Nope

I see a lot of these “my first steak” posts. How? Former vegetarians? Young children? I’m interested in the back stories as much as the steak itself.
