I can’t get it out to clean. First time using it. Lowes installation.

Which also explains why I caught no grease..

You didn’t think something was wrong before using it?

This was installed incorrectly. It’s supposed to sit on the curved vertical pieces on each end. You can see the corners with different radii that are supposed to sit in the cutouts on the deflector.

You need to take the sear zone deflector out first. There is a latch that connects to the control arm. That sliding deflector just sits in the large bottom shield in grooves. Should come right out. Once you have that and the arm out of the way, you’ll just need to find the right angle to get the big deflector out. I’d say angle it away from the hopper. The auger will get in the way if you angle it down towards the hopper.

Can’t say I’ve been in this scenario but once you get it out, it’ll be much easier next time.

Looks like my pit boss. Screwed up the same thing and didn’t realize until I cleaned out the fire pot the first time and figured it out.
