I've always wanted one of these machines but it's definitely out of our budget.. imagine my surprise when my partner comes home with a 'surprise' from work that someone was disposing of?! 🤯 the only part missing was the portafilter and after a clean and descale, works perfectly! Apparently the guy had upgraded and no longer needed this machine.
Also, would you suggest keeping the additional grinder even though the grinder on the machine works perfectly fine? I don't really see the point of having 2 grinders other than the separate unit might be able to fine tune your grounds a bit more. Would you suggest using the separate grinder or continue using the one on the machine.

Congrats! I have that exact grinder and love it, but you definitely don’t need another one if the built in one works. Unless you want it for the aesthetics, you could sell it for $50+ on marketplace
I don’t know that model of grinder per se but I had a machine w build in grinder and I could never quite get it dialed in to be perfect. I ended up buying a separate grinder. Seems like the person who gifted you that machine thought the same thing.
Congrats on new machine, enjoy the yummy espresso. I think general consensus is neither grinder is great, but both work. I would try to decide if you like the taste of one grinder more than the other (but I’m curious if they have the same burr). I regularly see that grinder selling for ~100 on marketplace and I think a qol improvement could be found with a DF54 or baratza esp (~200)
You could dial in the on board grinder for your espresso and use the other one for drip if you make any.
Congrats!! Red looks pretty cool. I have the same Breville grinder and recommend something like [this single dose hopper](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1456284538/aro-espresso-single-dose-hopper-with). This gadget allows me to measure what I am using and store the rest of the unused coffee beans in an airtight container. You might be able to find it elsewhere but I bought mine from Etsy (possibly from a different seller) many years ago and it’s still doing great.
I’d keep the extra grinder for filter coffee? definitely can come in handy
Delicious coffee prepared with that machine
that color is amazing
I think you can donate this extra grinder to me. I would be flattered.
Love the machine for a really nice cup of coffee! “Easy” in use when you know how it works (YouTube is you’re best friend)
But with that said: After a year I’m looking forward for a better machine and grinder, not because it’s necessary, but because I love making coffee and want to explore what’s possible.
Hey u/honeybadger3389,
I got my setup the same way! However, it was being disposed of because the built-in Grinder wasn’t working. (Still isn’t, see my post)
They both need racing lines
Help me understand here. Why do you need a grinder when your machine has a grinder?
Congrats! I’m envious.
Keep the grinder if you make drip, pour over, French press, cold brew or any other coffee that is not espresso.
