WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank is stepping in to help those feeling the impact of the ongoing government shutdown.

Tomorrow, the food bank will host an emergency mobile pantry for federal employees, military members, and anyone in need of food assistance.

The drive-thru distribution will be set up just north of Sheppard Air Force Base’s main gate at the Sheppard bus stop on Burkburnett Road.

“There’re about 7,400 individuals who are either federal employees or military personnel in our area. Most food insecurity is really circumstantial. Things happen at times, and in this case, salaries haven’t been paid, and that can cause real issues within families,” Wichita Falls Area Food Bank CEO David O’Neil said.

Organizers say families can simply drive up between 10 a.m. and noon to receive groceries, no questions asked.

Volunteers will be on site helping, making the process quick and easy for everyone who comes through.
